Effectiveness. Efficiency. Results with your LMS

What matters most is what eLogic delivers.

Your company's Learning Management System isn't all apples and oranges. It's whatever you need it to be. Compliance and safety training, new service introductions and career education all have a place. Your LMS is what your people need when they need it.

As you explore educational implementing an Learning Management System at your enterprise, here's what you need to keep at the top of your mind.

You Asked For It! We Listened! We Built It!

In today’s business world, technology and training are top of mind for organizational leaders and cutting travel and material costs are harsh realities.  After a decade of working closely with our clients and listening to the learning community experts’ advice, the team at eLogic is proud to announce the launch of eSSential v9.  List below are some of the new features that can be found in eSSential v9.

Navigation

  • Single user now to maintain.  Users who have admin privileges will now login from a single URL with a single username and password.  If a user has privileges above and beyond that of a student, they will see the appropriate menu options along with top of the page (horizontally located).  If the user only has student privileges, they will only see the left navigation options (vertically located).
  • Clients will now be able to add without assistance from eLogic, new navigation links in the left navigation area.  These will be tied to content areas that are managed by the client.
  • Home page continues to have a portal content area at the top.  It now also has a Registrations and Notifications window.  The registration window displays the last three registrations made by the user that are currently incomplete.  The Notifications area has the last 10 notifications received by the user (sent by activities within the LMS).

User Record

  • Clients now have the ability to define an unlimited number of user attributes (language, education, license types, dates, etc.).  These attributes can be marked as required or optional.  These attributes can be lists, text fields, dates, or currencies.  All setup and definition will be controlled by the client.
  • In addition to determine which fields will be visible on the My Profile, Self Registration, and User Management pages, clients now have the ability to mark any field as required.

New Areas

  • Ad Hoc Reporting - New with version 9, is an ad hoc reporting engine.  Clients will now have the ability to define and setup as many custom reports as they require without needing assistance from eLogic.
  • Report scheduling and email distribution -  Any report (ad hoc included) can be scheduled to run and be distributed via email (as link or PDF).  Clients can define an unlimited number of schedules and can also include any email address to distribute the reports.
  • Training Plan - Also new with v9, is the end user training plan.  Users will be able to define a training plan, period of time they want to accomplish the learning in the plan and then measure their progress toward fulfilling the objectives outlined in the plan.  This can either be completely handled by the end user or it can be routed through the manager workflow hierarchy.
  • Student and Admin Dashboards – We have added two dashboards to the application.  Both are graphical displays of usage and other key performance indicators to show users the value they are receiving from the application.
  • Registration Wizard –  Users with appropriate privileges will now have the ability to perform group registrations for courses, training events, or learning paths.  The user will have a flexible search page and be able to find one or many users to register for the curriculum.
  • Certification Types – Clients now can define an unlimited number of certifications (governing body, certification period, certification ids, etc.) and then associate those certifications with any curriculum (course, training session, or learning path).  This gives our clients the ability to have a user “earn” a certification based on the completion of any curriculum and not just have it tied to learning paths as in v8.24.1.
  • Certificate Templates – Clients can now create their own certificate of completions.  These certificates of completion can be assigned to any type of curriculum.  Course A can have a certificate of completion that is different than Course B with this new feature.  All is controlled by the client and will not need programming by eLogic.
  • Geographical Hierarchy – In addition to our normal organizational hierarchy, we have now added a flexible geographic hierarchy.  This will allow clients who have matrix structures to accommodate both organizational and geographic reporting/curriculum assignment needs.
  • External Training – End user (students) now have the ability to self report external training earned outside of the system.  The user will have to upload a PDF file to document that the training was in fact completed.  If an administrative user determines the external training should not be reflected on the user’s transcript for whatever reason, the admin user will have the ability to hide it and document why the training was rejected/removed.

Other Major Enhancements

  • Organizational Hierarchy – We have eliminated the 3 level hierarchy and clients now have the ability to define an unlimited number of hierarchy levels.  We have also implemented the concept of a Level owner vs. a unit manager.  The level owner will receive all workflow requests and have access to report on the users assigned to that hierarchy.  Unit managers will only have reporting access.
  • Curriculum Enhancements (courses, learning paths, and training sessions) – Search categories can now be assigned to all curriculum types.  We have also added the ability to assign an unlimited number of search categories to each curriculum (course, learning path, or training session).  The ability to define certificate of completions is now on the curriculum level.  The ability to define whether the completion of the curriculum generates a certification record in the system is now defined at the curriculum level.  The ability to define which notification is sent is now also at the curriculum level.  We have also now included a preview link on the course management page which will allow admin users to play the course directly from the course management page.  This provides a much easier method for previewing courses and eliminates the need for the course library.
  • Webinar Integration – Integration with LiveMeeting and Webex are now provided as a standard feature.  Users can create new web conferences and launch the web conference all from within the LMS.  *Clients will be responsible for setting up an account with either provider and will be responsible for any fees charged by the webinar vendor.
  • User Interface/Look and Feel – the user interface has been improved dramatically.  It will now be even easier for end users to navigate the application and find the training that best meets their need.
  • Survey Engine – We have integrated a best of breed survey engine into the application.  This will give our clients a tremendous improvement in survey functionality including types of questions that can be used.
  • Imports/APIs – We have greatly expanded the number of imports available to clients to use.  We have made this available via the traditional FTP approach but have also added two new methods.  Clients can use API’s and transmit data via XML.  Clients can also use a manual upload process using the csv file and avoid the FTP server.
